“Monday In The Life Of A Content Marketer”

A typical day in the life of a content marketer is all about what one does, and what does it take to do it? Well, readers first let me tell what is content marketing then let’s go ahead with the routine of a content marketer. I hope this will be okay.

I know most of you think it’s just a part of marketing or promoting business in various digital channels. But, the fact is ‘No’, because “Content marketing is a strategic way of promoting your business offerings by creating and distributing useful, meaningful, and reliable content to attract & retain audience and drive profitable customer action”.

When it comes to the first day of the week — “Monday blues” is what all of the employees’ think of. As we need to prioritize the to-do-tasks for the day by scrolling back our mails to see for any important tasks and start working on it accordingly.

A lot of people like me working in the Content team, responsible for various content-related tasks like web content development, blogging, social media promotions, executing content for campaigns, editing, proof-reading, and creating content strategies as per business needs etc. It’s’ not as easy as you all may think to summarize what content marketers typically do in a sentence or a paragraph because the job as a content marketer is all about understanding the business, target-audience and create strategic content to keep your audience engaged through simple and optimized content to uplift brand awareness.

Monday is a kind of busy day where I need to keep things up to date with the routine tasks and prioritize tasks in a well-structured way like plan, organize, create content and execute or submit content tasks for the day.

To give you all a brief about how the Monday in the life of content marketer would be, read on next.

6:00 AM — Alarm starts with notification “It’s Monday”. I keep snoozing until 6:45AM, and finally I will be up by 7AM, get ready and start to office by 8AM and reach around 9AM.

9AM — 11:30AM — Every Monday there will be scrums with respective account managers, including seo experts and digital marketing managers.

As I reach office by that time I will attend scrum to keep tasks updated between the internal team as well as accounts managers. I will update my to-do-task list.

Later I will go through my Gmail to check any important task-related mails from team, account managers and clients as well. Based on high-priority tasks, I will start my work on Monday with a positive note: “A fresh start and a great day to put my efforts to learn and grow”.

11:30AM — 11:45AM is “Chai time”, a part of refreshment time with colleagues and I love this time which goes along like talking to colleagues, having chai, breakfast and snacks together.

12:00PM — 1:30PM: I will look through my mails and sort it to work on the on-page tasks that need to be completed. I consider this time as highly-productive time to work on important tasks of the day based on project urgency. Before lunch time, I will make sure the assigned priority task is completed, based on the content needs for the high-priority project.

Then, collaborate with developers, designers and seo team to take content live, example: Website content, blogs, social media promotions and etc.

1:30PM — 2:15PM is Lunch break time. Honestly, almost till 3:30PM, the afternoon will be lazy and sleepy. To keep myself-motivated and enjoy work, I will listen to music and meantime research trending content topics using keywords to work for the on-page content to improve site traffic. This goes on till 4PM.

What does it mean? It simply means to work on effective content and outreach strategies to help improve the site traffic and motivate customers to be engaged with our digital marketing clients.

4:30 PM: Evening “Chai time”.

5:00 PM: I will do research for optimizing website content that will help drive site traffic in a smart way. I will read about content writing ways which are important as a part of content marketing with respect to seo.

6:00 PM: I keep updated information on routine tasks and maintain a projectwise task sheet.

6:30 PM: I will wind up for the day.

Even though I am in a team, I work independently and interact with other teams for content related work.

I believe that “Happy writer=Powerful content”.

If you are one who is passionate about writing and delivering educational content to motivate the audience, then I would say “Content marketing” is one awesome field to kick-start your career.

Thank you for your time in reading my blog.
